Podcast #10 – Staying with the Grind
Staying with the Grind – What is the Grind or what is your grind? To me the grind is the daily tasks of the long range goal. The hardest thing is to stay on course, stick with the plan, especially when things aren’t going good. I have seen this so many times and I must admit it is mostly with young coaches, they have no patience; if something isn’t working or they haven’t got there as fast as they would like they change things find the newest and fabulous fix out there. But is that the proper way, I think not, hopefully when you took over your program you came in with a philosophy, goal, long term mission for the program. What was it and why are you so fast to abandon it?
I say stick to your grind, your course of action, your process. Its take a long time to build a program that can weather the ups and downs and still be successful, you need in most cases to change the culture within, the attitude within. It takes time usually at least 2-3 years to see some signs of change. Once you have changed the culture you need to continue with each and every little detail until the program is function on all cylinders.
